Sailing the Adriatic from Split to Dubrovnik - cabin charter in Croatia
Beside bareboat rental of sailing boats and catamarans along the Croatian Adriatic Coast, we also offer cabin charter, so you can individually book just a cabin. If this is your first visit to Croatia, or you have not had the opportunity to explore the Croatian islands and coast before, then this is the right page and the right program for you. For those who enjoy being on a sailing boat and want to see the best part of the Adriatic, we have created a travel itinerary that gives you the opportunity to meet new people, to be as active as you want, to learn the basics of sailing (if you wish), explore beautiful islands, snorkel, swim and wake up at another anchorage each morning.
Excessive physical activity is not required. The skipper will always adapt to the individual and will not request any work onboard unless you wish it.
The best place to buy mosquito repellents are pharmacies or well-stocked stores.
The dinghy is an auxiliary vessel of your sailing yacht, which you will usually use to reach the mainland. When entering the dinghy from the sailing yacht you might sometimes get a bit wet, and sometimes you will need to do some rowing, even though the dinghy is equipped with an outboard engine.
Please be advised that sunscreen with UV protection, an appropriate sun hat or cap, a long-sleeved white cotton shirt, and non-slip sports shoes are essential for your stay aboard. Don‘t forget to pack your swimwear and a warmer jacket, regardless of the temperatures.
Temperatures can reach up to 35 °C in summer (July, August), which can be unpleasant for people who are not used to the heat. Temperatures in May are lower and range from 18 to 22 °C. June is the longest day of the year.
The sailing yacht, as well as the skipper and crew, are insured, of course. Nevertheless, we recommend taking out travel insurance at home, in the event of a travel cancellation or a change of plan.
The sailing yacht has standard safety equipment according to the regulations of the Republic of Croatia for sailing yachts.
A SUP (stand up paddle) is available on the sailing yacht, which does not require much physical effort, but we do not recommend taking off unattended.
Diving masks and flippers are included in the basic equipment of the sailboat.
Upon request, we can organize a yoga instructor for the period of your stay. The price is 1450€.
SOCIALIZING & LIVING TOGETHER ON THE SAILING YACHT
Living aboard means that the boat cabin, toilet and kitchen are shared with other crew members, therefore understanding and tolerance are expected in this boat adventure. From experience we know that the cabins are only used for sleeping. Most of the time, you will spend your time outdoors on the deck.
Sailing depends on the wind, so if the skipper changes the route, you can certainly trust him because the alternative route was chosen due to weather conditions and the safety of the crew and sailing yacht.
Sailing yachts have thin partitions in the cabins that are not comparable to real walls in terms of sound insulation. As a result, noise is very easily transmitted from one side to the other and might wake up fellow crew members. If you are planning a long night, we recommend a trip to the city to experience the local nightlife.
Acquaintances that arise on board often turn into long-lasting friendships. Be open to explore and spent time in nature. Your crew has chosen the same active holiday as you. You probably have more in common than you might think at first glance.
ORGANIZATION
Keep in mind that our itineraries begin and end in a marina or harbour. If you have booked an additional accommodation in advance, you will be required to cover the cost of your transportation to the marina of embarkation or the place of disembarkation. Of course, we will be happy to help you with the organization of the transfer.
The minimum age for participation in this trip is 15 years, and only when accompanied by a parent. Triple cabins are not available. If traveling with a child, it will need to share the cabin with an adult. The second person will share the cabin with another adult guest or pay an additional fee.
At the time of the reservation, we will require some information about your passport, including the exact name (as stated in the passport), date of birth, nationality, date of issue and expiration of the passport, as this is obligatory to register the crew list. Your data will no longer be kept in our records after the registration in the e-Visitor system.
The cabins onboard are small, so instead of bulky suitcases that do not fit into the storage lockers, we recommend carrying soft travel bags.
If you want to return to one of the islands after the end of your sailing trip, there are daily fast catamaran lines that operate the route Dubrovnik-Pomena (Mljet) - Korčula- Hvar- Milna - Split (travel time 5 hours).
FOOD
Food on board is not included in the base price of a cabin booking
Food is planned, purchased and prepared jointly in agreement with the skipper.
A common food budget will be created on the first day in the amount of € 100 per person. The skipper will keep records of the bills.
Special dietary requirements (gluten-free, vegan) are available, but these should be emphasized at the time of reservation so that we can advise and assist you in purchasing the products you want.
DAY 1- Saturday We expect you in our office at 15:00 h. After meeting your skipper, you will be accommodated in the respective cabins and go grocery shopping. If the port is not left on this evening, the rest of the day is free for sightseeing. You will experience a wonderful first evening, regardless if you start from Split or Trogir, as both marinas are located in the heart of the old town.
DAY 2- Sunday The island of Brač, which is the highest island in the Adriatic, offers many attractions. In the small town of Pučišća is the old stonemason school, in Postira the "little night regatta", the museum of the island Brač is located in Škrip, worth seeing are also the tourist mecca Bol, the Hermitage Pustinja Blaca (a hidden monastery complex) and Milna, where you can see the traces of the once richest and most important place on the island of Brač. We recommend buying a stone-made souvenir on the island of Brač, as the stone from Brač is famous far beyond its borders and was, for example, used in the construction of the White House in Washington.
DAY 3- Monday Slowly you have become accustomed to life on board and now it is time to get to know the island of sun and lavender. Lavender has a very soothing effect and successfully keeps mosquitos away. The town Hvar is located on the south side of the island and is famous for its nightlife. Whether you are anchoring in Jelsa, Vrboska or Starigrad, you can easily get to Hvar by taxi. If you prefer a quieter and more relaxing evening, then you can spend a pleasant evening in the other small towns on Hvar. Buy a bottle of Hvar wine for which this island is known.
DAY 4- Tuesday Korčula will delight you with its architecture. Be sure to take a swim in Lumbarda or on the nearby islet of Badia, and while in town Korčula, visit the museum and birthplace of Marco Polo. Wine, figs, salted fish or sardines are local and simple dishes of this island.
DAY 5- Wednesday This is already your fifth day on board, and neither day nor date is important to you. This is an excellent condition to lose yourself completely in the world of the island Mljet. This national park consists of two salt lakes where you can rent kayaks, cycle or just go swimming. Fishing is prohibited, except for the small island population. If your other crew members and the skipper agree and the prices in the local restaurants suit you, then Mljet is the right place to try grilled fish.
DAY 6- Thursday As Mljet is quite a long island, you will also have the chance to explore its eastern part. Regardless, whether you anchor in Prožura or Saplunara due to the prevailing weather conditions, this day will be perfect for swimming. By now you have already forgotten that tomorrow is the last day and the thought of your return to an urban environment fills you with dread.
DAY 7- Friday The arrival in Dubrovnik is until 14:00. The sailing tour from Mljet to Dubrovnik is especially interesting because of the Elaphite Islands. Your disembarkation doesn’t mean the end of your journey. You can safely store your luggage in our office while visiting Dubrovnik, which we call the “Pearl of the Adriatic”. Be sure to study at least briefly the history of this former republic (abolished in 1808 by Napoleon). For a long time, the Republic of Ragusa was a successful, rich and well-organized city-state that existed between the great powers of that period; the Ottoman Empire on one side and the Republic of Venice on the other ... The size and strength of the city of Dubrovnik will become clear to you as soon as you see its city walls. Dubrovnik has always been an inspiration for numerous films; "Game of Thrones" is just one of the latest hit movies filmed in this magical city.
We will be happy to see you again.
