Catamarans are steadily conquering the Adriatic with their spacious living areas and cabins, offering the comfort of your home at sea. When it comes to maneuvering or sailing them though, skippers often hesitate to take the helm without prior education. And they should, because due to their size, weight, absence of keel, their behavior is quite different from a monohull sailboat.

Each spring, we organize a few catamaran training courses from Split, allowing you to get ready to rent a bareboat catamaran before the summer season.

Catamaran skipper training

The Catamaran skipper training is mainly designed to help sailboat or motorboat skippers to learn how to safely and elegantly operate these large boats. In a three-day course, you will get familiar with the specificities of Catamarans before operating one on your own for the first time.

It is advised to apply after you have obtained our ISPA Day skipper certificate, or any other valid boating license. The aim of this additional training is to help all levels of skippers gain knowledge, confidence and practice on the specificities of catamaran handling and sailing. At the end of the training, you will receive a Diploma from Ultra Sailing School.

• Pre-course experience: Day skipper certificate or other boating license
• The Catamaran training is held on Nautitech 44 Open (2023), Fountaine Pajot Isla 40, or other catamaran from our fleet

• We recommend using sunscreen during summer, hat, non-slippery sailing shoes or sneakers, warm sport clothes for spring and autumn

Note: Sailing is a weather-dependent activity, to make the best out of the training, the timetable can vary according to the forecast of the day. The instructor will let students know in due time the adapted program in case of change.
